Infor is ending mainstream support and updates for InforOS at the end of 2024. Many of the underlying technologies such as Java 8, SQL Server, Microsoft .Net, and Windows used for InforOS on-premise are being retired and not maintained by their respective owners. This can lead to security issues and vulnerabilities that can’t be fixed. Infor will continue to offer updates, patches, and fixes (Supplementary Update Maintenance) until December 31, 2024. After that, the maintenance transitions to Sustaining Maintenance, where users will have access to pre-existing patches, documentation, and KB articles. However, no new updates or fixes will be provided. For more information, visit Infor’s document on “End of Supplementary Update Maintenance.”
If no action is taken, using InforOS on-premise beyond 2025 could potentially expose the environment to security risks.
What are the options?
Customers on current support/maintenance with Infor will be offered a no-cost license exchange to a new on-premise product called Local Technology Runtime (InforLTR). This provides a product that will duplicate the core functions of today’s InforOS on-premise. It includes security, Ming.le, ION, Document Management, and API Gateway. It will provide no new functionality – only technical and critical bug fixes designed to maintain a stable environment. This will be supported by Infor until 2030. InforLTR will be available in Q1 of 2024.
Migrate to InforOS multi-tenant cloud (InforOS MT). This gets all the new features of InforOS as they are added. InforLTR is also provided as part of this offering as a “bridge” to help migrate from on-premise to multi-tenant. InforLTR and InforOS MT can work together to provide hybrid environments. InforOS MT can provide digital services such as AI/Machine learning, Enterprise Automation, and many other add-on technology solutions that are only available in multi-tenant.
NSA can help migrate your on-premise environment to either InforLTR or InforOS MT. We will be reaching out to customers that we know are running on-premise InforOS in Q1 of 2024 to strategize the next steps.
