Tips for a Successful CRM Migration

A successful Migration to a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software can make all the difference in how your business operates.

CRM, if used correctly, is the main source for everything there is to know about the company’s customers. A CRM in the wholesale distribution industry stores contact and account information, sales history and trends, service requests, account purchasing habits, marketing automation, and more. Oftentimes, new sales and opportunities are revealed by simply diving into a customer’s CRM profile and history.

A CRM system is a MUST-HAVE for businesses to stay competitive. Most of the time the conversation to move to a trusted CRM software happens when a company experiences significant growth. Without CRM, the company will certainly struggle to meet demands.

Is your company ready to ditch legacy CRM or spreadsheets and invest in a better CRM platform? Or, are you looking to switch your CRM software because your current CRM has limited integrations with other enterprise applications or lacks compatibility?

NSA Can Help and We’ve Compiled a Few Tips for a Successful CRM Migration Here:

#1 Choose the Best CRM Based on Your Company’s Needs

Selecting a new CRM platform deserves significant thought and analysis in determining your company’s needs.

Think of the various departments that will utilize the software such as marketing, sales, and customer service. Look for customizability and integration capabilities with other software in place and the existing IT infrastructure. Your IT department should be heavily involved in the decision-making process.

Take advantage of the fact most CRM platforms offer a free trial period where you can test the features to ensure it’s a good fit.

#2 Data Assessment

Evaluate what data you need to migrate, remove duplicates, add missing data, and check misspellings and other errors. The goal is to ONLY migrate information that is accurate and up to date so you’re starting with a clean slate.

#3 Data Backup

This step is crucial. Ensure all CRM data is backed up before the migration process begins to eliminate the risk of data loss or damage.

#4 Transfer the Data and Double-check It

Once the data migration process is complete, verify all the data has been transferred correctly. With technology, errors do sometimes occur, so it’s always best to have that human touch evaluate the data transfer.
